One of the first professional haunted houses ever produced in Denver is credited to Greg and Chris Reinke of the Reinke Brother’s Haunted Mansion and Reinke Brother’s Haunted Store. They started producing Haunted Houses in Denver more than 20 years ago and they were the first Haunted House in Denver to introduce pneumatic special effects. The Reinke Brothers Haunted Mansion has often been referred to as the only Disney quality Haunted House outside of Disney Land itself. The attention to detail and the quality of the sets continue to be unsurpassed by any other haunted house. The Reinke Brothers paved the way for several other Professional Denver Haunted Houses to follow. You can visit the Reinke Brothers Haunted Mansion every day in October from 7PM to 10PM on Sundays through Thursdays and 7PM to Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. They are located at Prince and Main Street in Downtown Littleton.

The most famous, or rather, infamous Denver Haunted House is the 13th Door Haunted House. This is the only haunted house in Colorado to make it on the coveted America’s Best Haunted Houses list. Touted as being the Scariest Haunted House in Denver, the 13th Door Haunted House is not for the faint of heart. This haunted house is often credited with being the origin of the famous urban legend where you get your money back if you make it through the 13th Door. If you think you can make it through the 13th Door, this haunted house is a must see. Located conveniently at I-225 and Parker Rd., next to King Soopers. Open every day in October from 7PM to 10PM on Sundays through Thursdays and 7PM to Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

If intensity is what you are after, you definitely want to visit the Butcher Haunted House. This is only the second year for this haunted house, and it has already become a crowd favorite. Based on series of murders, your job is to find the killer before he finds you. Of course, he finds you first and if you can stop screaming long enough to catch a breath, you might make it out alive. With more special effects than any other haunted house, this is one of the longest Denver Haunted Houses ever produced. It is located at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, next to the Corn Maze. This is an indoor haunted house, but you do have to walk through a dark, mysterious, deserted wooded area to get to it. Oh yeah, you have to walk through it again to get back to your car. Hmmm. Open every day in October from 7PM to 10PM on Sundays through Thursdays and 7PM to 11PM on Fridays and Saturdays.

This is part one in a two part series on Denver Haunted Houses. Check back next week for part two!
